Because when the updates from 7.4.0 first came out they completely
b*******d up my system.

Funnily enough, I use this product to listen to music and the radio, not
to play around with coding and IT. This was sold to me as a consumer
item, and as far as I am concerned this perpetual need to play around in
the bowels of the system because a bunch of nerds (this time at the BBC)
like to show how clever they are, is blighting not just this product,
but thousands of others. After over 40 years working in IT I don't want
to spend my retirement continuing to do so.

If you want to talk dilution of effort you only have to look back over
this thread to see the number of different platforms, some very obscure,
that people are trying to shoehorn this product in to, and the amount of
effort being expended to support these. My contribution to the cost of
support in this environment is trivial. I am very appreciative of the
help I have received over the years, from both bpa and Triode, on the
limited occasions when I have encountered problems.

Hope that answers your question.
