Andrew Scott's blog comment ("we have never published those (RTMP)
streams as syndicated ... but it turns out that people have reverse
engineered these streams ... which is against the terms under which they
are provided") indicates that he believes that we shouldn't have them in
the first place - probably because the BBC has a license for RTMP that
specifies its use for iPlayer but not syndication. For anyone that's not
a party to such license terms, there's nothing to stop them from
hot-tapping into the streams, but they can't look to the BBC for
support. I'm just speculating, but it would explain why RTMP is a topic
the BBC won't discuss.
