Where the firewall "hits" is when the player, after it has been
instructed/configured by sq2u to play a given file (according to LMS
request), sends an HTTP request to GET it (this is the way things work
in upnp). So sq2u must be able to have a webserver always idle to
receive the request and if the firewall blocks that, then everything
works fine but playing does not happen because sq2u never receives the
HTTP GET request for the audio data.
Having said that, the changes you have made in config.xml are NOT taken
into account, although there is no error reading "a" config.xml file.
Can you, for example, change the  <name> of the OPPO and see if it is
reflected in LMS ? I'm sorry I cannot run these tests for you but I
don't even have a VM with OSX
