Thanks Ian. I've tried flac, BBC radio (live and listen again) and mp3. Volumes on both LMS and the two audio devices are set to a reasonable level. If they were receiving audio they would definitely be making a sound. A guy (SlimPvc) on the Chromecast thread has just reported 'exactly' the same problem.
