I have been testing with a Boom on wifi which is also borderline wifi
for all types (it get rebuffering on http/mp3) of a WIndows laptop and I
saw one instance of rebuffer but boom recovered (but the recovery log
also showed similar unusual logs entries to your log - so I can
eliminate those)

To make Radio similar to Boom - you can disable AAC native under
AAdvamced/Filetype/AAC - that will force all player to trasncode to
flac. 

[I was able to make the issue go away with a previous iPlayer build by changing 
altering the plugin to have HLS be handled by PlayHLS, which I believe offloads 
HLS processing to 'ffmpeg'. Haven't tried that approach with this build yet. 
This usually resulted in the stream needing to be restarted after anywhere from 
20-45 mins but didn't have rebuffering issues.[/quote wrote:
