This setting has no relevance to the BBCiPlayer playing HLS, DASH or RTMP because these are not native formats for the players. If you are seeing an improvement with these streams it is a placebo effect. When connected to LMS - SB players can play internet radio streams either "direct" (i.e. stream goes from station direct to player and LMS does nothing) or "proxied" (i.e. stream goes from station to LMS which then retransmite to player). So if a SB player can play a station through with mysqueezebox.com then it can be played "direct". When players are synchronised all data goes from station to LMS and then LMS sends multiple copies to each player in sync group. The "proxied" setting is effectively sync playing but one player in sync group. The HLS, DASH and RTMP (Flash) formats need to be processed by LMS first before being sent to the player - so "proxied" setting has no effect. "proxied" setting can help with some station / home networks where the stream gets "lumpy" and if playing "directly" SB player buffer gets depleted if it does not get data in time and cannot catch up resulting in rebuffering. With "proxied" the LMS can buffer far more data than a player and so smooth out the lumpiness of the stream. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
