A-ha... yes... you're totally correct. I've just swapped them round and
now I can see that all 3 files are transcoded using sox (even when it's
already in a supported format). I didn't realise that was a
priority-ordered list but it makes perfect sense now you've explained
it.

So you know what my next question is going to be :D Does it make more
sense for me to revert it back to PCM first (i.e. the processing chain
is FLAC --> PCM --> Sonos with a larger file being sent across network)
or give FLC priority so that the chain is FLAC --> SOX --> FLAC -->
Sonos (i.e. smaller file being sent across network but more work with
the transcoding)? At the end of the day, if I'm not seeing any dropouts
then I guess it really doesn't matter?

Thanks again for the explanation (and putting up with my pointless
questions about something that's already working!)
