Your points about a large plugin and the fact that the unsupported
streams that Extra uses make it more delicate are obviously valid and
sufficient, but for me with both plugins, I think the menus are more
complicated as they are now, especially with some overlap between
functionality (schedules, for example).

For me, the ideal would be a single iPlayer top level (so I don't have
to think ahead of time about which plugin has what I want) followed by a
choice of Listen Live, Schedules and Categories (or these could even be
3 top level menus with an iPlayer prefix). What appears would be
governed by whether Extra was installed, but the menu tree would be
unified. Extra subtrees could be identified with some short text or a
logo change.

I'm not saying this is definitely a good idea, but it seems more
intuitive to me. Can I do any of this by customising menu.opml?
