"We all are," Derek replied his tone softening some.  The which had flared
violently at first, was now dwindling as the remaining bits of parchment
turned into dark gray ash.   All that remained was a faintly red glow.
Derek put her hands and Alex's shoulders.  "Knowledge of intentions is
sometimes just as useful as knowledge of the events themselves.  We'll just
have to see if we can figure out what is going on and until we have
something concrete try not to dwell on it."  He knew from experience that
this was easier said than done, but it was a necessity.  One of the things
that kept you from going completely mad at times.
