Derek knew that her grandmother's death had hit Alex pretty hard. He also
knew she had a good head on her shoulders and almost always thought things
through before she did them. He knew that was not what was bothering him.
However, the truth of what it was he felt eluded him. He gave her a
reassuring smile, "I know you would not enter into any relationship lightly.
If your best judgement is telling you this is the right thing, then I'm sure
it is." But he wasn't. Perhaps it was Nick that bothered him, perhaps he
wasn't so sure that Nick had thought things through. He rarely did. But
that didn't seem right either. He tried pushing these thoughts away. I
wouldn't do to drive him self crazy over this. After all, no matter what
his reservations were, there was nothing that could be done about it.
