Rachel
"Now hold up there," I said with a frown, "are we really getting this clear?
You want to allow her to just wonder through the realms with nothing but a
necklace to protect her? Are you all crazy?" I looked at Patrick, "I know
you want contact with her, and that's wonderful but with her powers you need
to come to her, not the other way around. She's vulnerable Patrick, and she
doesn't understand yet what she's capable of...I don't want to loose her
too."
NM:
"Rachel.." Patrick's tone was gentle "You know that's not what we're saying.
This is in case she gets back there for some reason. One of us will at
least have a focal point and a fighting chance at finding her. The necklace
was what helped us find her this time. And Julia isn't going to be able to
bring me to her for weekend visits."
He looked at Julia "You're hiding it pretty good with them but I can feel
this is weakening you right now as it is."
Julia shrugged, forehead showing just a trace of the effects she was keeping
at bay for now "I'll be fine."
Patrick gave her a 'mmhmm' look and turned back to his wife "Hon, every time
Julia does this, there's a price to pay. I don't even know how long she'll
have to be in... stasis for lack of a better word. It's like medical school
and when you had finals. You literally had to stay up more hours than you
could handle and when you finally got to a bed to sleep... you slept a whole
24 hours and woke up disoriented and..."
He stopped there, pretty sure she was getting the picture "Julia won't be
able to watch Kat closely then and Julia is the one that brings me close
enough to be able to do this," he touched Rachel's cheek, gentling his tone
even more and he leaned forward "There's going to be a weak point after this
that we have to plan for. Just in case whatever influenced our daughter
decides they want to try it again."
"Even we suffer from over extension, sweetheart."
