"There's also a matter of safety," Derek told her. "I told you when she
crossed over before that the longer she stayed there, the less her life
would mean to her. That has not changed." Of course he was well aware that
Rachel hadn't believed him then, but perhaps she would now.

Julia looked at Derek, an expression on her face he knew from times past.
It was just letting him know that what he said could have been taken the
wrong way and that his male gene was feeding him his shoe again.
"There is a matter of safety - and I'll do what I can. As long as Kat's
wearing the cross I can sense her if she goes to the other side."
She was starting to get tired but didn't want to end Rachel's and Patrick's
reunion and so didn't say anything, deciding to let the others talk for now
and to only speak up when she had to.
