Ria's face turned serious. She stared at the Elizabethan building, anger
building up. Why did Derek always have to treat her as a child. "Did you
ever
stop to think you're not always the most pleasant of company, Derek," she
said coldly, "I'm where I should be . . away from you. Don't wait up I will
be home
when I can. Edwin will see to that." She did not expect Edwin to keep that
promise as it hadn't been made but Derek really could be infuriating at
times. "I'll be home before curfew, pops," she said sarcastically tempted
to hang up the phone but she
knew if she let things fester, her relationship with Derek would become
like her relationship with Sloan and she would never find the answers she
was looking for. What had happened to Christian? and Why?

Derek:

"You're with Edwin Lyons?" Alarms bells started going off. He was tempted
to ask her what she'd been thinking, but decided it wasn't in his best
interest. "Please get back here as soon as you can. Someone has broken
into the computer system and I can't figure the damned thing out." Perhaps
if she felt needed she'd get away from the guy, but on the other hand she
could get some important information about him. "Since you're there, see if
you can find out why he's so interested in our painting. I'm not so sure
his reasons are as innocent as he'd have us thing.....and Ria be careful."
