Kat:
"We do," Kat exclaimed, she'd been standing idly by and was glad for
something to do. "I'll show you," she started towards the door. "I'm kat,"
she added and headed out towards the garden.
Derek:
"Kat," he called after her. "Show them the way, but come back inside," he
ordered. He'd promised Milo privacy, which would be hard to get with Kat
chattering away.
Kat;
"All right," she called over her shoulder, though she wasn't happy about it.
She led them outside and too the table where she'd been drawing. The
crayons had been packed away and the box sat neatlly on top of the paper
she'd been drawing on. Both were set aside and the table had been set for
two.
Inside:
Sam watched them leave. "She's cute," she said to Derek. "Is she yours?"
Derek:
Derek felt as though she was, even if she wasn't. "No, the daughter of a
friend," he explained.
Sam:
Sam was a little relieve, but as long as he wasn't married that wouldn't
have mattered. She had spotted, though it really was not promenently
displayed at all, one of Derek's degrees, Oxford, now that was interesting
indeed. She leaned forward resting her elbows on the table. "So, you're
not married?"
Derek:
Derek cleared his throat, "no."
Sam:
"I was once," she said absently. "Not all it's cracked up to be at least
not that time."
Derek:
"Really? I'm afraid I wouldn't know."
Sam:
Sam was a little stunned, a confirmed bachelor at his age? Wow, that was
unusual.
