"Things have been rather busy here and we haven't even had time to think
about such things," Derek told her. Oh God, he thought, I'm just digging
myself a deeper hole. After all considering Julia's current..state...it was
obvious they had had time for something. But surely his mother hadn't
expected him to remain celibate until he got married? Oh God, she probably
had. His face reddened a bit more and he ran his hands across it, feeling
as though someone had turned on the heat and set it to about 110.
"Not, that the idea isn't appealing..."
"You're a grown man, Derek." his mother said, folding her hands in her lap
"It's not like I can send you to your room.. although..."
She let that sentence stop there, about to say 'although that may very well
have been the place they had had their relationship, so to speak. No, she
wasn't going to say that to him.
"You're....... expecting your first child... out of wedlock." she spoke, as
if trying out the idea aloud and against her better judgment.
