"I just need to know," Derek told her. He just hadn't thought about it. He
intended on them staying together forever, but the thought of marriage never
even popped into his mind until his mother brought it up.
"Do you want to get married?" That too was something he had to know.
She looked at him for a moment, realizing he was seriously wanting to know.
Of course she did.. but not if it meant being the only person that did. It
was the reason she hadn't brought it up; because he was satisfied with the
way things were with them and she knew that what she had with him was the
real thing, marriage license or not, and wasn't going to change except to
grow.
"I think the question is, Derek, do you want to get married? And.. why?"
