"Heaven help us, I ken only handle one a year." he responded with the same
grin as he motioned to the platter of sandwich fixables on the tray he had
put together "Help me ou' here and eat up."
He took another bite and chewed, that grin still in place, before swallowing
and asking her curiously "Where've you been anway? I woul' have thought you
would be out like a light by now."
"You don't have to tell me twice!" Kristin helped herself to a sandwich
and grinned back at Philip. "Lollipops and sandwiches, all in the same day?
You're going to spoil me, Philip!"
"Sleep...I haven't even got that far yet." She took a bite of her
sandwich, swallowed, and made a face. "Sloan got sidetracked and I got
tired of waiting for him...and boy, he's certainy in knots about something.
And I don't think my stomach would ever forgive me if I let a bath or a nap
come before food!"
"What about you? You look awfully happy for somebody who just spent the
last few hours at the hospital..." Philip's grin was contagious, and she
smiled as she ate.
