Amber shook her head, have already had her glass of
orange juice. "It's nice that you've become close to
them, you know," she said, looking at her clasped
hands that were laying on the counter. "And thanks
for trying to make me feel welcome. I know I don't
always make it easy. I'm trying, though, please
believe that," she said, looking up. The last thing
she wanted was to push away the one person she had
even been remotely close to, and she was worried that
her inability to open up to people would do that.
Closing the fridge door after getting another glass of orange juice,
Kristin sat down beside Amber.
"You don't have to thank me Amber. You're my friend-that's why I'm
doing it. I want you to feel at home here." taking a sip of juice,
Kristin continued.
"And I know you're trying...and I know it's hard. But don't worry
about it; it'll happen. Maybe when you least expect it." she grinned
softly. "Yeah, it is good how close everyone here is. They've become
my...family. But, it wasn't an over-thing you know. It was really
difficult at first; and I was a lot to blame." Kristin grew a bit
thoughtful, remembering when she first arrived at the SF House.
