Derek gave both Kristin and Philip a curious stare before speaking.
"If
someone will please explain what exactly your HAVE to do and WHY, I
might
CONSIDER it." He was completely lost coming in on the middle of a
conversation that he had not been privy to previous to entering the
room.
Philip looked at Kristin, letting her explain. After all, it was her
Precept being questioned.
Exchanging a quick glance with Philip, Kristin turned back to Derek.
Her voice quiet, she related what Amber had confided to her concerning
Jane's recent strange behaviour.
"There's obviously something going on with Jane; I don't know what,
but...they need me there, Derek. I mean, I just left them-and I didn't
even check in with Jane after I left." Guilt and uncertainty clouded
her eyes. She knew she'd put off checking in with Jane only because if
she had called, Jane would have asked Kristin's intentions regarding
which House she was going to stay with--and Kristin had deliberately
avoided that question. She couldn't help but feel that if she had
checked in with Jane, then she might have recognized that something was
wrong.
"Philip has agreed to go with me back to Boston," she flashed a
grateful smile at Philip's offer of moral support. Looking back to
Derek, Kristin was at a loss for words-she just hoped he understood how
she felt.
