Derek managed the barest ghost of a smile.  It was so faint that many would
not have notice it at all, but nonetheless it was there.  He had indeed been
keeping track and had the date not only in his calendar, but on a Postit
note in the front of his journal, on the blotter calendar on his desk and
set up as an email reminder, if all else failed.
