I was able to recreate the problem again after clearing it once with
the Windows.close. Now I know the behaviour a bit better. If there are
shadows present then the Window.close cleans them up, if there are
none it gives errors as I reported above. 

Using the above Windows.close_ suppresses the error as you suggested.
So I guess I should schedule this on a regular basis. Do you see any
problems with doing that?
