nope, incorrect interpretation! none means "nothing given is good enough!" it means, "leave it the way it is, until there's a better solution than these." none doesn't mean "no icons" and i'm deliberately avoid any analogies! how should one vote if s/he's completely against the change, anyway? i see the irony in those pics missed you... > other? What other choices are available? > No alternatives have been uploaded. If anybody else > is working on a design which they want considered > they haven't let us know about it. nope! other means "pp needs new icons but not these and/or only some of these" other means, principally, that you may be thinking in that direction but either you're only partially satisfied with the proposal (as i am now) or you're completely differing. maybe ppl need new icons but would rather like other types of designs, like (the one i've just approved) alpha-blended, high-color, pastel colors, hi-contrast > I guess your message implies you would vote for none > of them, but can you tell us of any alternative? [see above. frankly, i didnt want to discuss about icons of PP, which i use lately less anyway, but you've asked.] although i find some of the icons nice, i don't see the use of the others. <devils_advocate_mode> - as far as PP-related files are concerned, the only needed icons are for .notes, .powerpro, powerpro.exe and pproconf.exe! apart from that, pp doesn't have that many different internal windows-types (vdesk arrange, debug, etc.), which are open at the same time, that it's necessary to define so many icons. - while you were at it, why didn't you adapt the old good green pp-icon to the new schemes and/or change it completely as well? i see, *no* concrete reason why pp's icon should stay the same. your icons need some adaptation anyway; whoever can do that, can easily adapt himself to a new pp main-icon as well. and ppl who manually start pp very often would associate the new icon very quickly anyway. - you say one could use a different icon in taskbar for PP-help? if i may ask, why the heck should that be internal to pp? what about plugins' .txt files or pp-related .knt files? </devils_advocate_mode> anyway, the most interesting part is your opinion from msg 10404: <quote> I guess we'll never agree on a new design, and we haven't yet heard Bruce's view on this subject. In the meantime, I shall start using Sue's. Icons in an exe are most easily changed with Microangelo; almost as easily with ExeScope or Resource Hacker. </quote> what has changed in your view since then? i mean, can't one simply use an .icl file of yours if s/he wishes, or patch the powerpro.exe with icons of his choice, why should they be now integrated into PP? what's the difference of an external icl and internal icons? ..pls, don't come up now with arguments like "new users", "standardization" and such, you were always saying "PP is a DIY-tool, not a One-Size-Fits-All!", and so did i. sorry, i don't really get the point! i'm gone! ps: you caught me in the middle of a flu, i may be missing some points or sounding like Statler & Waldorf. -- Reclaim Your Inbox! www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird ------------------------ Yahoo!
