Hi Julien,

Instead of my NoteTab help file, I have instead posted
pcrepattern.html complete, which I will compile to a help file for
use with PowerPro when I get back.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/power-
pro/files/Documentation/pcrepattern.zip

However, fyi below are specifics for the replacement text
implemented in the interface used by NoteTab, which may give you
some ideas.

It certainly raises some questions, like how can we access named
captured substrings?

Also, PCRE supports Callouts, which would be a way of inserting some
PowerPro script language in the middle of a replacement clause if
implemented. It would enable easy counting of global replacements,
changing the case of replacement text, etc.

Regards,
Sheri

$0 Inserts the entire match.

$1 ... $N Inserts captured substrings. '$1' inserts the 1st captured
substring, '$2' the 2nd substring, and so on.

To insert the 1st substring directly followed by a digit, escape the
digit using a backslash: '\$16' inserts the 16th substring,
while '\$1\6' inserts the 1st substring followd by the literal '6'.

$<SubStringName> Inserts a named captured substring with the
name 'SubStringName'. '$<date>' inserts the substring named 'date',
if it exists in the MatchPattern, otherwise inserts the format
expression literally.

Escape Sequences

\ The backslash character: '\' is used as a general escape. Unless
the following character has a special meaning (listed below), it is
inserted literally.

Also serves to escape the control characters, '$' and the backslash
character itself:

\$ inserts the dollar sign
\\ inserts a single backslash character
\a Audible Alarm, that is, the BEL character (hex 07)
\b Backspace (hex 08)
\e Escape (hex 1B)
\f Formfeed (hex 0C)
\n Newline (hex 0A)
\r Carriage Return (hex 0D)
\t Tab -- horizontal (hex 09)
\v Tab -- vertical (hex 0B)

\xhh Character with hex code 'hh'. After '\x', from zero to two
hexadecimal digits are read (letters can be in upper or lower case).
