Ok im running mac os 7.6.1 i have a powerbook 180. I have already gone to
apple>control panel>powerbook settings and selected internal modem. So im
using software called "zterm" to try to dial up into an old bbs. so in the
dial settings the following options are
Data rate: 1200
Parity: none
Data bits: 8
stop bits: 1
local echo is off
and the flow control selection is X0n/Xof
so when i go to dial i get no dialtone. so i checked the phone socket and it
works. also when the speaker turns on when it dials there is no noise, so
that is my problem.

You don't really NEED drivers for modems. Just use the standard AT
commands to set it up. Do you have a "modem" control panel, and have your
modem selected? Although for most modems it's just basic Hayes command set
for basic dialing anyway- so it shouldn't need anything in particular.

You really need to provide your OS version, modem type, internal or
external, what you are doing to try and make a PPP connection or dial out,
to get any meaningful help. Also, what your software settings are. And
include this all in one email :) Specifically what are you doing step by
step and where the problem is. Without details there's just too much that
could be wrong, either with your idea of what should need done, or
software/hardware setup.
