Yes, you were right.

I'd spied the part before, but I guess I just forgot what I was 
looking at.  The number on the board is C55.  A capacitor, I guess.  
The oscillator is indeed a 4 pin SMT part immediately beside position 
C55 at position G1.  The part itself is labeled ECE5350A.  It is a 
33.3333MHz part.

Digi-key is a good source for these, I imagine.  What do you think 
would be a good part to use as a replacement?  - Marc Schrier doesn't 
use SMT oscillators, it would seem, but likes to use sockets.  I've 
got the digi-key catalog, but as i've never actually done any 
_original_ hardware hacking (yet), I don't know what to pick out...
