In case anybody is wondering why I don't just judge them by having them both running side-by side, is that the new one has no ram or OS installed. With nothing running, the screen looks pretty sharp but its hard to tell for sure. Unfortunately a friend is using my scsi cd/rom which I will need to get back soon in order to go any further with installation. That is, unless I perform the drive and screen swap.
