Go back to 7.6.1. 8.1 is bloatware by comparison--takes up nearly twice as much RAM, and is really slow on a head to head comparison of boot time, app. open time, etc. I've two 5300's side by side on my desk, and much prefer 7.6.1. I've tried 7.6.1, 8.1 and 8.5.1 on one of them, and went back to 7.6.1. 8.1 takes longer to empty the trash than my teenager does, and that's really sloooooooow.
