You should upgrade to 8.1 on the 5300 regardless. It's definitely more stable than 8.0, although either is 10 times better then 7.5.x.
And lke was said before, make sure you have Shared Library Manager PPC installed. You also might want to make sure you have the latest hard disk drivers installed.
