It needs to complete the entire boot process before you attempt to insert the card.
If Jim is trying to push it back in during the boot process, it will probably cause a problem. However, if he pushes it in _after_ a completed boot and there is some kind of failure, then we have another problem. ---------- > It can boot with the card in the slot if the card was loaded before it was > last shutdown. ---------- So, if it's something you use daily, it should probably just be left in. ---------- > I have a 9.1 OS 48 MB RAM G3 333MHz 1400c and this is what it does, also the > 1400 user guide states the same. ---------- I have been booting up my 1400c (stock 133mHz 601e, OS 8.6) with a Global Village fax/modem/ethernet card which always remains in the slot, almost every day for 2 years with no problems (never kicks it out). In addition, for the past 6 months I've been booting it with a formatted 128mb CF card in a card reader in the upper slot as well (set as Virtual Memory, BTW). As long as I leave 'em alone, it boots fine every time. Ken N. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
