Yep - it rolls just like a TV out of vertical tune. It's the darndest thing to
see. The laptop boots fine and I can watch the HD icon scroll from top to bottom,
out of sight, and then appear top right corner only to roll down again. It doesn't
roll so fast I can't read the name "Hard Drive" below the icon but I can't keep up
with it when using the palm rest mouse. I can keep up with it using an external
mouse but the HD icon doesn't "feel" the mouse pointer and respond to clicking.
I just came back from a day out of town. I left the laptop on while gone, hoping
it would stop rolling but it didn't.
I'm not going to give up on fixing it but might consider sending it to someone who
wants to take a shot at figuring it out.
Have you ever come across a reasonable source for motherboards? I don't think I'd
trust buying one on eBay as I think I'd probably be buying someone else's problem.

Oops, thats part of the motherboard.

When you say rolling, you mean like what you would see on an out of tune TV ?
