>>Well maybe, if my clock chipping project turns out good on the 3400. I've >>read in several places It can be coaxed up to 300mhz with a 50mhz bus >>crystal. Thats a full 25% increase in performance in both arenas.
It wouldn't surprise me. The Kanga uses the same motherboard running at 50 MHz, and the 603ev-240 doesn't get particularly hot (at least for me) unless you have the PowerBook sitting flat on the carpet or something. There's a graphic on macspeedzone.com that shows a 3400 at 303 MHz running at 25 percent better than at 240. I've thought about trying it, but never had the nerve to risk it. What I wish is that you could somehow desolder the 603 and put a G4 there instead. But that's dreaming...sigh. >>Also a 24x cd drive which doesnt count for anything other than I don't know >>anybody else with the 24x in their 3400c. Just an interesting extra tidbit. I had no idea such a thing existed for the 3400. Now if only there were an internal CDRW that could go in there. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
