Jim,

9.1 is as far as you can go on a 3400, normally.  That's where mine is but I have the 
full 144MB of RAM and I'd highly suggest you get more for it.  9.1 has been very 
stable and responsive but I did disable extensions I don't need.  There is an 
extension of some sort available on the OS9 Forever website 
<http://www.os9forever.com/os9helper.html> that is suppose to allow you to upgrade the 
3400 all the way to 9.2.2.  I've not tried it though.  Upgrades should be downloadable 
from Apple but you'll probably have to do 9.2.1 and then 9.2.2.
