How much memory do you have installed on the 1400? Because irregardless
of the G3 upgrade the 1400 should run 8.6 without any issues. Unless you
have I believe less than 24megs of ram.
    Another work around might be to use Wish I Were, or Was.. I have a .sit
of it around here somewhere if you can't Google it..
    It allows you to fool the software into thinking you have a diffrent
computer than you really do.. So say run the program. Put in the id that
would id the 1400 as a 3400 persay, restart with the install cd and is
should install without any trouble... I used it to install 9.2.2 on an 8600
and 4400/200. ( Though I don't recommend 9.2.2 on a 4400!)
