Whoops.. sorry about the previous post... I have both a 1400c/183 and a 3400c/180, and I can tell you the speed difference between the two is like night and day; I would suppose resulting from the PCI vs. the Nubus setup on the 3400c and the 1400c, respectively. Maybe cache too... I dunno... The 3400 is BIGGER, alot like a 5300c on Creatine(!); and the RAM increase puts it over my sturdy 1400c, even with RD8 factored in. The 3400c will also have faster CD-rom options.. and lets not forget about the (possibility?) of making the 3400c Cardbus-capabile, depending on which MoBo comes with it (I think? Check w/ LEM)... Of couse, the 3400c's main limitation is that it cannot be upgraded to G3 levels (short of a kanga board installed). But for my use, I get along fine with G2 technology for all of my 'books, so it does not matter to me. Oh yeah! One other factor... the 3400c has Lithium-Ion batteries it can use, and they can be had on the Swap List or Ebay for $10-$20 shipped. Try THAT with a good 1400 battery.. and they are all NiMH!
