Disadvantages: No G3 Upgrades (although it can be overclocked and I'm working on an overclockin project of my own) Uncomfortable Keyboard That's about it for disadvantages Although when the 1400 came out it was a lot better than the 5300, the real 5300 replacement was the 3400c (they even share similar case components). The 1400 is more of an iBook of the era (in my opinion anyway)... 1400, 2400, 3400 that was Apple's line up for most of 1997.
