At any given times I have a minimum of 3 and up to 5 Macs of various types connected to my home network. They are used for various tasks, given that they are mostly "vintage" and no one machine can "do it all." So I give the machines names that let me know which one I am connected to (usually the model name - Wallstreet, iBook, etc) and the primary drive or partition reflects that model name - WallstreetHD). That way, if I have several volumes mounted on the desktop of one machine to shuffle files around to prepare for burning a CD or some such, I can keep track of what I am doing.
