There was a long thread in just the last week about 1400 speed improvements, In one of the replies there were three or four URL's to 1400 specific sites, one of those has the instructions for doing what you want, which really isn't 1400 specific.
I have the url somewhere on my machine at work.
Google 'boot powerbook from CF' I'll bet it's pretty high up on the page.

Thanks, Bruce. Everything I have found suggests that it is unbelievably simple. Let's hope my PCMCIA adapter turns up to-morrow and I can give it a try.
