Dear PowerBook-philes,
I currently boot both my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet (yes, out of the scope
of this list) and my PowerBook 1400cs off of the same Compact Flash
card. {It is a 1gig one I picked up at ZipZoomFly -- I recommend
checking out (www.dealram.com) for good deals on Flash RAM.)
It works quite well and does seem to increase battery life. Still, I am
not sure how much the improvements are for I do not do much in the way
of heavy-lifting with either of those machines (and I have not had them
for very long).
The only problem I had was this: The Compact Flash card I had would not
format into the Mac HD Format. (It came as PC Formatted.) I could not
use Disk Utility in Mac OS 9 or 8 to fix this, having to instead use it
on a Wallstreet running OS X in order to get Disk Utility to reformat
the drive.
This was my only problem. Good luck and I hope it works well for you.
Let me know how it goes.
Sincerely,
Pacer the Loon
