Thank you all for the attention. It's been a hard task to install Linux on a PB5300.
That makes it sound like you've already done it. Have you? What distro did you choose?
Well, I don't have any problem with MAC OS 8.0. I have it installed on the computer. All I want is a text editor that has syntax highlighting (for me to program in Java and C/C++), a Java compiler and a C/C++ compiler.
MacVim (freeware) <http://www.macvim.org/> will do syntax coloring. There are a variety of compilers available for Mac OS. CodeWarrior (considerably NOT free) will compile Java, C, and C++. It also has a slick IDE with syntax coloring and more bells and whistles. It can target x86, 68k, PowerPC, and probably more.
