I would get a CD - internal or external - and boot the machine from
the
Linux CD that way, (if the Linux CD will do that)...
FYI, I don't believe that there was ever an internal CD-ROM built for
the PB5300. You'd have to use an external SCSI unit. That's what
I've had to do with mine.
