Most are ATA-6. I use the 40 GB Samsungs from Newegg.com in my Wallstreets. But ... the Samsungs will not properly auto-negotiate down to ATA-5 in Lombards and Pismos [ * ] . Only a few drives will, actually. Late Hitachi/IBMs and late Toshibas won't properly auto-negotiate, either. I believe this is a quirk of the Lombard's and Pismo's ATA controller chip, not a defect in the drive, as so many drives will not work in Lombards and Pismos. You might give the Samsungs a try. They are inexpensive, very quiet and very low power, plus they have all the bells and whistles of their competitors (GMR headsm FDB motors, etcetera). <http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152501> [ * ] About the only large capacity drives which will work in Lombards and Pismos are the 5K80 series if Hitachi/IBM drives, which are now obsolete, and their Hitachi/IBM replacements will not work in Lombards and Pismos. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
