Actually, the C key only reliably works with CD-ROM drives that are 
"Apple friendly" - those with Apple ROM instructions.

Not all CR-ROMs that came with PCC machines were "Apple friendly," which 
makes the "C" key more of a crapshoot.  Thus, the DOCS method is the 
best way to go, as it works every time.

But you do bring up a good point, Robert: other apps (e.g. Conflict 
Catcher) may map the "C" key to something different on startup.  Again, 
this is where the DOCS method shows its mettle: it works, no matter what.

Note that the DOCS method only works on ADB-native Mac OS machines.  It 
has been phased out on the USB/FW Macs.
