Ok, I just completed the fan replacement with the 3 pin connector fans from PC Power and Cooling. It worked like a charm and the PTP is MUCH MUCH quieter. Now the loudest source of noise in the PTP are my 7 HDs!
I did splice the fan connector in the PS simply because there were too many wires around the 2-pin connector and I didn't want to put any undue stress on the connector. My guess is that I have a slightly different PS than Marty, maybe due to a different revision. Anyway the other two fans were plug and play and the length of the wires was perfect.
