We inventory everything on a PTP which is five feet from the door to the garage, and it makes life so much easier. We have over 50 boxes of Halloween decorations and dozens of large horror props stored in our garage and attic, as well as nearly 30 boxes of Christmas decorations. There's no way we'd be able to find the specific decorations or props we need without destroying the entire house if it weren't for the PTP inventory and the numbered boxes. My husband's collection of over 1,200 pieces of 1930's and 40's hammered aluminum serving ware is next up for inventorying. I draw diagrams of my vegetable and flower gardens in Illustrator so I can remember what I planted where without cluttering the house with little pieces of paper, and I have one inventory titled simply "Where We Put Stuff." We've also got so many CDs and videos that I keep them in a database, which I print out from time to time and tuck into the car. That was the result of having to take duplicates back to the store several times after forgetting that we already had them.
