Great Wayne...goody...brag time !!

I've been running 2 PowerTowerPro's (G3/300 & G4/350) alongside a 400 mHz
B&W for quite a while now. One PTP is dedicated to printing(w an Epson
StylusPro XL) and the other to backup, while the B&W, with it's 100mHz bus
and speedy video has taken over as the CAD box.

The PTP's are rock steady and reliable as refrigerators. They only got
displaced as a result of B&W's hitting eBay for just over $200.

Hobby units here include:
1) My favourite...an SE/30 running a 50 mHz 030 with 80 mB ram on OS 8.1
with 256 level greyscale. ( aka Gamba's House Special)
2) A 2Si running a 20 mHz 040 and dual monitors
3) An obligatory 2Ci boosted to 40 mHz 040
4)A Power 100 running a 100 mHz 601 (PowerComputing's first Mac clone)
5) My aforementioned PowerWave (150 mHz 604...now 250 mHz 604e) with
Stargate card.

There's over thirty pre-G3 Macs littering the premises...everything from
the original 128 and 512, an SE running a Daystar 030, on up to the king of
the 604e's...the PTP (the Mach5 8600 & 9600's, although taking the 604e's
on step beyond, were actually premature Beige G3's)

I recently had the pleasure of giving away a 2 -210 mHz PowerCenterPro's to
friends as starter machines (spoiled bastards), and a PowerTowerPro 250 mHz
to another in exchange for a flight to Japan...cool !

I finally succumbed to portable fever when Wallstreets hit the magic $200
plus level on eBay, and have, through small time wheeling and dealing on
eBay, worked up to the 300mHz G3 model with the 14.1" TFT screen and 192 mB
ram for around $300 total outlay.

Among my most valued treasures are the old MacWorld and MacUser magazines
which review all the goodies that were available for these old macs, and
make the pursuit of first class video cards, scsi cards and the like easy
and fun. I love to glance at the ads for PowerComputing from the days when
a basic PTP 225 cost $4995 !

One thing I have learned is to avoid mixing whiskey with eBay...=)

Cheers...Michael
