it'd be interesting to know how many of these work horses are still in use.

Wayne,

The PowerComputing Units (I'm the one they call when it locks up) that I'm the IS man for are:

This PCP240 w/500 MHz Sonnet G3 card I'm using.

A PCP 210 w/400 MHz Sonnet G3 card .
that will be left here in our "Snow Bird" lair.

At home, there's the PTP225 with 1GB RAM that's stumbled and clunky -ied around before dropping dead. All after, I put the Power Logix G4 card in it. When fixed and all is sorted out , it will be running OSX.

My other PTP 225 will get a SONNET G4 Card (AS in NO MORE Power Logix) and will run OS 8.5 or 8.6, so the CAD 7 SW will work on it.

My daughter has my PCP240 with 400 MHz Sonnet C3 card they use to in their business (Carpet Store). OS 9.1

My step daughter has my Power 180 with 300 MHz G3 Apple Card, they use at home. OS 9.1

My 12 yr old, grandaugter has the Apple 7200. 0S 7.6

My grown grandson has the Power 100, w/300 MHz Sonnet G3 card. OS 9.1

My other grown grandson has the othe PCP210. OS 9.1

My emac 700, running OS X, is used for email and correspondence. OS X has been a disappointment to date.

We have a Church chairity organization in Fort Worth that refurbs old Macs and donates them to underpriviliged Mexican and black kids on the South side (With the stipulation that the kid teaches his mother how to use it and she writes a thank you letter to them IN ENGLISH.
ALL the SE's, Mac Pluses and a ton of IIvx's have gone to them along with a few Mac II's.

A man just retired in Arlington, TX ... that had a big TV repair business. He ran the whole show with a four machine, Mac II network. He told me, people would give him their old Mac II's, so he had an attic full of replacement machines and spare parts. He was using OS 7.6 with an inventory contol and Bookeeping program that printed invoices also.

For work, not play, i.e., games ... a PTP 210, 240 or PTP 225 WITH THE STANDARD processors will fit the needs of most small businesses.

In the Motorcycle business, one found that most M/C riders know very little about M/Cs. Heavy on the VERY LITTLE!

Now, I'm finding that most computer users, know very little about computers. They shrink up in fear at the prospect of opening the case and looking inside.
