i have a powertower 166 with the cpu card ( 604e 200Mhz ) of a 180
and work fine but i want know what is the more powerfull cpu upgrade i
can get and how much memory i can put in it and where i can buy all of
pieces

The PowerTower 166 can handle any G3 upgrade made for Mac computers prior to the Beige G3's, and can address up to 512 mB of memory. There's no need to go G4 if you don't use OSX, and the 512mB ram limitation means either a wicked fast G3/9.2OS combination, or a mediocre G4/OSX combo.

Vendors shown on the Lowendmac homepage will probably carry all the goodies you need, and are good to deal with in the unlikely event something doesn't work properly.

I say 'probably' because the daughtercard-type upgrades used in the PowerTower era computers only apply to Macs and Mac compatible computers more than 6 years old now, and many vendors have simply stopped offering products for older computers due lack of demand.

Also, buying a brand new G3 upgrade and ram for a 'legacy' (obsolete) product will likely cost far more than, say, a Blue & White G3, which has desireable features such as USB and Firewire ports.

For the best deal, eBay is probably to place to find goodies.

What you will probably find there with a little patience is complete computers with all you seek and more going cheaper than G3 upgrade bought new. eg:

eBay item # 5787541373 is a Mac 7300 c/w 300mHz G3 upgrade, 352 mB ram, 2 G HD, external 4G HD, Epson 600 printer, keyboard, microphone, SFX gamepad, 25 CD games, 17" Viewsonic monitor AND and Powercomputing mouse! all included for $150 buy-it now, although it will probably sell for $50 or $60 (maybe less).

All of the goodies listed will work with your Power 166.
Shipping all that stuff which will probably cost more than the winning bid...=)

Cheers...Michael
