Just because there are addresses in PM that you don't want in the Apple
Address Book (AAB), doesn't mean that you can't still use the latter to
synch to. Just set it up so that PM updates itself from the AAB, but that
the AAB does NOT get updated from PM. You'll have all of your AAB
contacts there in PM for your use, but anything that you specifically
enter only into PM's address book will remain there and won't get shunted
back to Apple's.

I have this exact set-up on my machine and it work s fine; my PM address
book consists of the AAB contacts _plus_ my various email lists (like
this one) which would serve no purpose in the Apple Address Book. New
'normal' contacts are entered in the AAB and PM 'fetches' them for it's
own use, but anything that I enter specifically into PM stays there.

Hope I'm not restating the really, really obvious :-)
