LOL, sorry for being now a smarty, as the bug obviously occurs when
cancelling messages while they are being sent - why not just stop
cancelling messages while they are being sent, i.e. only hit send when
you are sure about it? You might want to change the option then to not
instantly send messages - messages will collect in the outbox until you
manually trigger it (that is how I do it 'cmd+-' will send waiting messages).

of course this is not the final fix, but I am sure it is much faster than
manually resetting send statuses of many many messages at a later point
or other gray hair growing workarounds...
