The WBC calibrations are performed annually in house and are reviewed by the RP
specialist and supervision. Daily QC checks are performed with a mixed
Cs-137/Co-60 source when the WBC is in service. Pass/fail results are
automatically printed out. We also participate in the Eckert & Ziegler
Analytics quarterly QC program where we receive a source of unknown activity
and an unknown radionuclide mixture. The blind source is counted in our
phantom, results reported to Analytics, and our pass/fail agreement is reported
back to us.

Subject: Powernet: QA of WBC calibration

We were recently asked how we perform a QA of our WBC calibration. We use a
vendor to perform the calibration and the documentation is complete and has
never been challenged, so I was stumped. We do QC checks on the daily
performance to document the daily performance vs. the cal.

What do you do for WBC calibration QA reviews? Especially if you use a vendor
to perform the calibration.
